Holiday Health Tips Continued

Make Healthy Dishes

You’ll be attending plenty of holiday parties in the coming weeks, and bringing your own food is one of the best ways to help yourself stay on track. You can bring a vegetable platter with some hummus, or make a savory dish with plenty of protein and a side dish to share. Other health-conscious individuals will appreciate your efforts, and you’ll be able to feel good about what you ate at the party. Even if you do indulge in a dessert or a cup of hot cocoa, you’ll be much better off when the majority of the food you consume is promoting your health.

Wash Your Hands Thoroughly

Between shopping, traveling, and coming into work every day, there are numerous opportunities for you to catch a wintertime bug. Washing your hands should always be one of your habits, but you should make a conscious effort to wash them even more during the holiday season. Many people go out in public even when they’re not feeling well this time of year, and the last thing you want is to start off the new year feeling crummy.

Limit Your Alcohol Consumption

As we mentioned in one of our previous blogs, alcohol is detrimental to your body and mind in a number of ways. In addition to promoting fat storage, disrupting your sleep, and causing you to feel lousy the next day, alcohol causes your testosterone levels to plummet as it’s metabolized by the body. Whether or not you’re currently receiving testosterone replacement therapy, you should do your best to limit yourself to two or three drinks in an evening. Drink plenty of water while you’re out celebrating, and if you don’t feel your best the next day, then make sure to get plenty of rest instead of reaching for a mimosa.
