Studies have shown that patients with sleep apnea who lost weight saw a marked improvement in their symptoms, and some eliminated their symptoms entirely just by losing weight.

Stop smoking

By now, you are probably well-aware that smoking is incredibly detrimental to your health, but it can also be specifically problematic for your sleep apnea. Smoking cigarettes causes the upper airway of your lungs to swell, which further obstructs your breathing. If you stop smoking, one of the many benefits you will experience is a decrease in your sleep apnea symptoms.

Limit alcohol intake

Additionally, you also know that alcohol is not good for your health. In the case of sleep apnea, alcohol obstructs air flow by decreasing the muscle tone in your throat, aggravating your sleep apnea. Drink alcohol only in moderation and occasionally to improve your sleep.
